Take a camping trip in Wyoming (you can rent a cabin, take a fishing trip, visit Yellowstone, etc.) or in North Dakota. Are your kids boys? They might like visiting the Football Hall of Fame, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and then catching a Cleveland Indians game. And since you'll be on Lake Erie, you can either go fishing out on Put-in-Bay or (even tho you're tired of amusement parks) you could stop at Cedar Point, home some of the best rollercoasters in the country). Or if they prefer baseball, there's the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, followed by a drive to NYC to catch a Mets and/or Yankees game.
