There are slight differences and some distinguishing characters in the cottages that are located at different places. Canadian cottages are distinguished from others, because they are mostly located next to a lake or even the ocean, basically in areas of wilderness. They are mostly rented out to vacationers and are considered popular tourist draws. Used fro skiing, hiking and fishing trips, they are also called ‘cabins’.
If you own the cottage, it is advisable to surround the place with all your favourite things, like books, music, etc., apart from the other necessary things. Also, to increase the comfort level of the cottages and give it a more welcoming and cosy look, ample use of cushions and pillows is the best way. The upholstery, including the curtains must be in bright and sunny colours to lend a happy and lively feel to the cottages.
Keeping the background light or preferably light and then using coloured accessories, like furniture, fruits, flower, dishes, rugs and curtains is a good way of highlighting the accessories in the room. Wood dcor, like wooden planks for flooring and rough hewn timbers lend a rustic feel to cottages and is easy to maintain as well. Keep the accessories inside the cottage to the minimum accessories. Stuffing the cottage with a lot of stuff can make it look stuffed and suffocating.Last but not the least, decorating cottages with memorabilia, and antiques lends it an old world charm and unmakes you want to get back to it more often.
Location, location, location! Deciding where you want to spend your summer holiday is a big factor, although not a necessity if you’re not fussy. Some holidaymakers simply trot down to the airport and see if they can take advantage of last-minute cancellations, no matter what the destination.
