When you check-in for your London flight or in fact any flight from a UK airport since the security concerns have been heightened you are asked a few simple questions. These simple questions are for everyone’s safety.
Did you pack your luggage yourself? This is usually the first question you get asked. This is to make sure that you know what is in the case and to make sure someone else did not put anything else in.
When you check-in you are also asked if the luggage you are checking in has not been left unsupervised. This is to make sure nobody could have placed anything in your luggage and is for everyones safety. It is better to be safe than sorry
Despite the many publicised events at airports around the world people still think it is funny to joke about it. Surprisingly there are arrests every month for the passengers who jokingly say, “There is a bomb in my bag”
There are arrests at airports throughout the UK each month because someone has said ‘there is a bomb in my bag’ The check-in staff have to take these comments seriously and contact the airport police.
Do not be surprised if you read in the newspapers about someone getting a jail sentence or a fine and community service for doing this.
Once a bomb comment has been made aircraft and airports have to be evacuated which can cause a lot of disruption and make people miss connecting flights or suffer long delays.
So after checking that you packed the luggage yourself and that it has been in your possession the whole time you only have to worry about any excess baggage charges unless someone travelling with you makes a bomb in the luggage wisecrack.
