February 6th, 2012 - Getting The Best From British Getaways
If you are planning your holidays, you may wish to consider the variety offered by British getaways. The UK has a lot of interesting places to visit. You can choose to relax at the seaside in Skegness or the hustle and bustle offered by cities such as London or Edinburgh.
If you like the vibrancy of a modern multicultural city, then London is a must on your itinerary. You can shop till you drop and then see a show at the many West End theatres. This can be followed by a nightcap at a traditional British pub before retiring back to your hotel.
The museums in London are renown the world over. The Natural History museum is iconic, you can see a full skeleton of a dinosaur and the children can learn a lot (and keep busy!) by playing with the interactive displays. Another advantage is that entrance is free, as is the case in most of other London museums and galleries.
But if you are after some rest and relaxation, not to mention breathtaking scenery then head North East of England. There you will find yourself in the Lake District, and you will be captivated by its beauty. It is a great place for those who are keen photographers or artists.
Skegness offers a taste of the traditional British seaside holiday. With its funfair and donkey rides, the kids will have a great time. A visit to Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve is a must for nature lovers.
The historic city of Lincoln is about 50 miles away from Skegness. You can see the beautiful and ancient Cathedral, and just around the corner, you will find Lincoln Castle. This building is home to the Magna Carta, written in 1215.
Less than an hour’s drive from Lincoln you will find yourself in Sherwood Forest, of Robin Hood fame. You can see the Major Oak, which is rumoured to be one of Robin’s favourite hiding places. British getaways have all this plus much, much more to offer.
