A friend suggested the Rick Steves’ site when I started talking about planning my dream Italian holiday. I listened to her and downloaded some free Italy audio tours, including sights in Venice, Florence and Rome. Rick Steves also wrote a guidebook and these tracks are taken from that great book about Italy.
Designed to give you a private walking tour, they really work! They are so descriptive that it pays to listen in advance. They are nice blend of history, architecture and regular life.
So what’s included in these audio tours? Currently there are three major cities in Italy that Rick has recorded tours for: Venice, Florence and Rome.
Rick’s Venice Audio Tours feature the Grand Canal Cruise, St. Mark’s Square, St. Mark’s Basilica, and Frari Church. The Florence Audio Tours take you on a tour of the Renaissance Walk, Accademia and Michelangelo’s David, and Uffizi Gallery. The Rome Audio Tours are particularly good and include the Colosseum, Roman Forum, St. Peter’s Basilica, Sistine Chapel, Trastevere Walk, Jewish Ghetto Walk, Ostia Antica, and Pompeii.

The Belvedere Hotel in Mykonos literally brings you to a never-ending heaven on earth. I have to say I’m quite picky when I choose my hotels but this one is beyond special. It makes you think that nothing like this exists in the normal world. The general feeling that you get when you’re there is beyond what you can ever imagine.
Pull out the moleskin journal you’ve been promising yourself to write in. Grab a glass of Rose’ and let your mind go. This became a daily ritual for me during the two weeks we stayed at the Belvedere. Yes, two weeks and it wasn’t long enough. Just sitting on their amazing teak wood deck and gazing out at the island and turquoise ocean is enough to change your life.
Maybe you’re a chick and you just want to crash and read “Belle du Jour”. Let the sounds and smells of the ocean and soft lounge music take you away. Whatever works; this place intuitively knows how to adapt to your mood.
I can’t even begin to explain the gastronomic experience you will have at this hotel. Imagine dining al fresco, under the sun, spoiling your taste buds with authentic Greek cuisine. Its restaurants will only delight you with their fresh, world class menus.
When the day is half over, you can head back to your room for your disco nap. The moment you walk in your room, you’re hit with the smells of the most incredible Korres products. It literally smells like the Greek islands in a bottle. Sit out on your terrace and breathe the fresh island air.
Did I mention that there’s a Nobu restaurant as well? Chef Nobu Matsuhisa brought his signature dishes to Mykonos in 2004 and has never left. This must be his favorite outpost since it isn’t similar to the other Nobu restaurants. In fact, I had been lucky enough to catch sight of him and his family having dinner during our stay.
I’m not sure if it’s the new friends we’ve made, the staff that somehow anticipates every need you have or just simply an amazing hotel in an amazing location that makes the Belvedere Hotel in Mykonos so incredible; but honestly, who cares. It’s fantastic!

February 25th, 2012 - Up, Up and Away! Enjoying a Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour
There is not a better way to experience the splendor of one of the world’s most awesome natural wonders than via a Grand Canyon helicopter tour.
