January 31st, 2010 - Places To Visit In Vietnam

Hanoi

If you are looking for one of the best tourist attractions for your Vietnam holidays, Hanoi is probably it. This big bustling city may seem a bit confronting at first, but give it a week or two and it will grow on you. Visit the famous must see Perfume Pagoda, and nearby Ha Long Bay and Sapa. Another great tourist destination the Old District.

Northeast Vietnam

Take a trip off the beaten track and visit regions like Cao Bang and Ha Giang. Most tourists never see these places. The average trip, taken on four wheeled vehicles, lasts about five days. To explore even wilder areas, add a couple of days to your journey.

Who’s Hue?

South of Hanoi is the ancient Vietnamese capital known as Hue. Take a few days to have a wander and see the sights, especially some of the wonderful old temples around the place.

Shop in Hoi An

A lovely beach is just the first of many great attractions in this wonderful city. You will never grow tired of looking at the incredible architecture in the beautiful streets of Hoi An, or picking up tailor-made clothes at bargain prices.

Submerge yourself in Nha Trang

If you are into scuba diving you will love Nha Trang. There are plenty of lovely beaches to investigate, and heaps of opportunities to get under the water and have a look at the marine life there. If diving isn’t really your thing you’ll probably only need a couple of days there.

Slip into Saigon

Saigon, or Ho Chi Minh city as it is also known, is business central in Vietnam. It’s even wilder than Hanoi! But it also has plenty of sights and activities on offer.

Mekong Delta

Hop in a boat and check out the floating markets of the Mekong Delta.

Phu Quoc Island - Leave the best for last

This island is located just south of Cambodia and is like a little piece of paradise. Though it is growing commercially, it is still unspoiled and can offer clear waters and beautiful, long beaches.

January 31st, 2010 - A Family Ski Vacation

A family ski holiday can cost less than you think and there are many ski destinations that cater especially for the needs of families. There are many deals available that will help you save cash provided that you do a bit of research before you make a reservation.

Before you book a family ski vacation check and see what the vacation companies are providing as a package deal. Many companies provide free or reduced child prices when the children share the room with two adults and in some deals will also offer an outstanding price for a second kid as well.

Do not worry if you are not all expert skiers as you there are numerous destinations that offer ski lessons to cater for all abilities and some run special ski camps just for the youngsters. Equipment can normally be rented if you do not have any already. There is no reason to go out to purchase skis, boots and special clothing if you are not sure you will enjoy it.

Make sure you also pick a ski destination that has ski courses that are acceptable for everyone in your group. You can not expect a beginner to handle some of the difficult runs as they could quite easily get hurt or get into difficulty. There are many family friendly destinations that would be appropriate. Make sure that the resort is also suitable for any snowboarders that have travelled with you.

Lodgings are also an essential consideration as you will want to be able to relax after going on the slopes throughout the day. Make sure the property you select is appropriate to you everyday standards that you would expect at home. A ski holiday at a bargain cost may not be worth it if you have to hire another lodging because the one you book is of a low standard.

If you have very young kids it is possible to find a good family resort with expert child minding available. This way you will be able to have more time on the slopes whilst your kids are being watched for you.

A Neilson ski holiday for the familly can be a fantastic vacation if you plan ahead, check out the great tips from travel expert James Mason of Travel Snips

January 29th, 2010 - Discount Airfares - Where To Find Them!

With the too-many-to-count options available to today’s business and pleasure travelers alike, to buy airline tickets at a truly discounted price can be both elusive and sometimes frustrating. How do you know you got the best deal available?

If you can remember just a few key tips, you can save money and find the best discount airline tickets for you at that time. Here are some of the secrets that the more experienced travelers follow when making their own airline reservations:

Do it yourself unless you need help from a professional in making your airfare reservations. Everyone now has access to the many online booking tools that allows them to bypass having to use a live (i.e., costly) person like a travel or airline reservation agent. Airlines frequently will price some of those self-serve savings into your airfare. You can either choose to book your airfares through the airlines’ own websites directly, or you can use one of a number of online travel agencies such as CheapOAir.com or Priceline.com to find - and even bid on - discount airline tickets.

Because of scheduling and logistical reasons, airlines can offer cheap airplane tickets to customers by encouraging them to book their travel well in advance. Ticket purchases made 7, 14, 21, or 30 days in advance will usually save you money. (Last-minute reservations, generally speaking, are the costliest type of reservations to make. More on that below.)

Since travel during the typical Monday - Friday week is heavily business-related, those airfares are generally higher than those at other times. If you’re able to, schedule either your departure or return on a Saturday or during the weekend. Plan on staying overnight at least one night to be able to buy airline tickets at a meaningful discount.

The more flexibility you have in your travel schedule, the easier it becomes to find discounted airplane tickets. If you can fly before 7:00 AM, between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, and after 7:00 PM, you should be able to find better prices during those periods during the normal business week.

If you ever find yourself needing just a one-way ticket, you may actually save some money by purchasing a round-trip ticket and just discarding the return half of the fare. Be aware, though, that if you’re a no-show for the initial leg of your trip, the airline can, and frequently will, cancel the return leg. Always make sure you fully understand what the airline’s policies are on granting refunds, credits, etc. before buying discount airplane tickets.

Put some of these tips and techniques to work the next time you’re looking for cheap airplane tickets and see for yourself just how much you can save on airfare!

Hemante Garces is an infrequent leisure traveler who has finally learned how to find cheap airplane tickets. Avoid the errors he used to make and save yourself some serious money! Also, here are some of Hemante’s favorite sites to find those sweet discount airfares

January 28th, 2010 - Guided Tours In Cuba

Cuba is a country that very few people know anything about because of the travel restrictions that were in place for so many years. Now the United States has lifted those restrictions, and Americans have permission to travel there. As a result, there are some exciting, small group Cuba tours available for tourists.

These special tours are a great way to see Cuba as it really is. There is free time scheduled for the traveler to see things and go places that they are interested in. There are, also, optional activities at local prices that the tour guide can schedule for those who want to participate.

One of the biggest complaints of people who go on tours is that they do not have the opportunity to interact with the local people. The small group tours in Cuba are not that way. You will have a local Cuban tour guide, and most of your accommodations will be in the homes of Cuban families.

These tours are not luxurious, but everything is clean and comfortable. You won’t just have the opportunity to meet local Cubans, you will have the opportunity to really get to know your tour companions since the groups are small.

The Western Cuba Tour is a perfect example of a small group tour. These tours are arranged for groups of two to twelve. The most common group size is seven. Everyone will fly into Havana on the first day at the time that is convenient for them. There are no activities scheduled for the first day so you can spend it doing whatever you want.

Days two through six will be spent visiting two other special locations. During that time you can ride horseback, go snorkeling off of one of Cuba’s white sand beaches, look for wildlife, explore caves, hike or go bicycling. These nights will be spent in the home of a Cuban family. Day eight is the same as Day one. There are no planned activities, and you may do whatever you want. You are free to leave at the time you choose.

Small group Cuba tours are relaxing and informal. Be ready to make some lifelong friends during the eight days you spend together. These tours are a unique way to see life in Cuba as it really is.

Look into Cuba Holidays for a change this year. There are many fabulous Cuba Tours that you can choose from. Head online and find those deals now.

January 27th, 2010 - London Flight With A Bomb In My Bags

When you check-in for your London flight or in fact any flight from a UK airport since the security concerns have been heightened you are asked a few simple questions. These simple questions are for everyone’s safety.

Did you pack your luggage yourself? This is usually the first question you get asked. This is to make sure that you know what is in the case and to make sure someone else did not put anything else in.

When you check-in you are also asked if the luggage you are checking in has not been left unsupervised. This is to make sure nobody could have placed anything in your luggage and is for everyones safety. It is better to be safe than sorry

Despite the many publicised events at airports around the world people still think it is funny to joke about it. Surprisingly there are arrests every month for the passengers who jokingly say, “There is a bomb in my bag”

There are arrests at airports throughout the UK each month because someone has said ‘there is a bomb in my bag’ The check-in staff have to take these comments seriously and contact the airport police.

Do not be surprised if you read in the newspapers about someone getting a jail sentence or a fine and community service for doing this.

Once a bomb comment has been made aircraft and airports have to be evacuated which can cause a lot of disruption and make people miss connecting flights or suffer long delays.

So after checking that you packed the luggage yourself and that it has been in your possession the whole time you only have to worry about any excess baggage charges unless someone travelling with you makes a bomb in the luggage wisecrack.

Some popular South Pacific destinations include: Indonesia, the Philippines, Fiji, and Bora Bora. Many of these places offer villas that are off the beaten path, yet in an area with unmatched beauty.

One advantage with a villa is that you can have all the privacy and quiet you desire, yet you can still experience being pampered by having your own private chef to prepare delicious culinary creations, and you can have a host of other staff to wait on you at request.

While the setting is very private, you can still choose to have a staff come and go upon your choosing to take care of the everyday mundane tasks that one wishes to escape while on a holiday. You can even pay for selective services such as a personal gourmet chef or a massage therapist.

You will want to check ahead of time to learn what services are free and which you will have to hire in. This will make your vacation experience go much smoother if you have all this worked out ahead of time.

Other amenities that villas will offer include: babysitting services, 24 hour room service, private pools, wireless internet, outdoor fireplaces, shopping venues, golfing, water activities, and a host of other first class services. Usually there are also many other activities to engage yourself in that are located only a short distance from the villas.

January 26th, 2010 - A Queensland Holiday Is Filled With History and Fun

Northern Queensland was first visited by Europeans when Captain Cook was forced to berth his damaged ship, the Endeavor, on the coast. The area remained a mystery for almost another 100 years, however until other intrepid Europeans ventured north. These expeditions were perilous and explorers were faced with harsh conditions and hostile Aboriginal tribes. In 1844 Ludwig Leichardt and his group set out from Brisbane to Port Essington but most of the men were killed or wounded by Aborigines. In 1848, Edmund Kennedy led an expedition from Cairns to the top of Cape York. All but two of this party perished including Kennedy who was speared by Aborigines.

Northern Queensland found wealth from the 19th to 20th century due to gold mines in the region. What was once a thriving city was now a one road town. Today most of their wealth comes from tourism. People travel here to stay at a hotel on the coastline or to visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Great Barrier Reef.

The Tree of Knowledge at Barcaldine, in Queensland’s Outback region, is the first meeting place of the Australian Labor Party in 1891. In 1895, in the town of Winston, Banjo Paterson wrote Australia’s national song Waltzing Matilda”. Today the majority of the Outback is known for its agriculture as well as gold, silver and iron mining.

Australians sugar producing fields are just north of Cairns. Cairns is the only city in this area, most are just small towns like Port Douglas and Mossman. In this region you can also find the Cape York Peninsula, one of the last untouched wildernesses, at 200,000sq kms. In the wet season this area is green and the rivers are full, but the opposite can be said for the dry seasons.

Cairns are well serviced by public transport with regular air, train and coach connections and also have an international airport. North of Port Douglas and the outback region require a car unless you take part in an organized tour.4wd would be advisable and generally Hire Car companies insist on this.

If you are looking for information on Port Douglas accomodations or Cairns accommodations you should go to www.TropicalNorthQueensland.com.au. They have everything you are looking for from hotels to areas of interest your whole family will love.

January 25th, 2010 - Hotel Facilities Vary Depending Upon the Service Level

Many people wonder why they get charged one rate at a Super 8. airport hotels and another at a Hilton when they are using nothing more than a bed. If that is the case, they may be staying at the wrong type of hotel facilities and could use a little guidance as to what to expect based on the top of property that they are staying. Lodging comes in three different tiers and each one of them is meant to service a specific market.

The lowest level of amenities will be received at extended stay properties. These are properties that are strictly meant for longer stays that will not cost as much money as any other type of hotel or motel. The reason the rates are so low is because they do not usually offer the types of amenities that people would generally expect from a hotel.

It is a rare extended stay property that will have a rate anywhere near $100/night. The longer the guest is staying, the more likely that the rate will be lower. For this generous rate, they get very little other than a bed and a parking spot. There will usually be laundry facilities of some type and maid service will be very limited.

One step up would be considered limited service properties. These are properties like the Garden Inn or Days Inn. Room rates are a little higher, but there is not much more in the way of the typical hotel amenities. Owners of these properties make some of the highest profits in the industry so you can expect them to be clean, but they will be run very tight.

Maid service in limited service properties will usually be a daily occurrence, unless they are at the bottom tier of the scale. They may even only offer it on request. While some of them offer meeting rooms and banquet space, it is very limited. There may or may not be a restaurant on property and will probably offer a continental breakfast for their guests.

The hotels with the best hotel facilities are known as full service hotels. For these amenities, the guest can expect to pay considerably more. A nice travel tip is to look for full service hotels that are surrounded by limited service hotels. They will have to drop their rates to stay competitive in their market.

Types of full service hotels would be properties such as Hilton and Marriott. They are typical of full service hotels in that they treat their VIP members like gold. Their highest levels can expect free breakfast, a welcome amenity, honor bar with free hours d’ oeuvres and express check ins. These types of properties are generally required to have a full service restaurant, health spa, snack shop along with high end banquet facilities.

If a travel is doing nothing more than sleeping in their room, why waste the money at a full service hotel. A place like the Garden Inn will still offer a free continental and a high level of service. When the guest wants to be pampered, pay the few extra dollars and take advantage of the hotel facilities that are offered.
